Anne Close Springs Greenway will play host to a super exciting six hour
mountain bike race on April 19.
Don't let the name "Greenway" fool you, the race at Anne Close Springs
Greenway is about 98% fast and challenging singletrack. The event will be held from 11AM to 5PM. The start and finish of the event will be at the Field Trial Barn. Categories, registration and all other pertinent info will be posted soon on

This event is being held in conjunction with the Earth Day celebrations
organized by the staff at Anne Springs Close Greenway. We have a local Girl Scout Troop providing breakfast at the event. We will have 12 different racing categories with great prizes and trophies going three deep in all categories.

30 or 60 mile scenic ride along the rolling hills and pastures of Boiling Springs, Lattimore,Mooresboro, Polkville,Lawndale, Fallston and the Kingston Community. Rest stops will be set up at the Sandy Plains Baptist Church on New House Road in Lattimore and St. Peter’s Methodist Church in Belwood. Que sheets, Snacks, fluids and restrooms will be provided. Sags will be available to assist you with maintenance needs. This ride is designed,supported and enjoyed by riders of all skill levels.

The 100-mile option is through 3 states (TN, AL and GA) and over 3 mtns. The 62-mile option spans 2 states and 1 mtn. The 25-mile option is across hilly terrain of 2 states. Registration closes when the limit of 2500 riders is reached or on Apr 21, 2008.

Mountain Valley Hospice has been putting on since 2000. The proceeds from this ride help hospice to care for terminally ill patients and their families. Riders can register online! The cost is $30 if registered before May 3rd.

Bicycling and Barbeque

Bicycling and Barbeque is a non-competitive cycling event held on the roads in and around Galax, Virginia. Last year's participants ranged in age from 12 to 80 all of whom completed the ride successfully. We ride on paved roads in and around Galax. This year cyclists will visit the outlying communities of Carsonville, Peach Bottom, Independence, Pine Mountain, Delhart, Savanah, and Fairview. Beginning cyclists will enjoy the Delhart valley/Fairview loop while experienced cyclists looking for a challenging ride will "enjoy" combining both loops into a wonderfully challenging 64 mile ride.
